Richard Wilson opens show tonight (Feb. 11, 2005)
The Blount-Bridgers House is opening its spring exhibition season tonight with renowned local artist Richard Wilson, a graduate of SouthWest Edgecombe High School, showing 12 to 15 original pieces. Many Edgecombe residents will remember Wilson's latest work, a portrait of former U.S. Congressman George Henry White, that was recently unveiled in the Edgecombe County Courthouse on Jan. 29.

Artist excited about chance to draw White (Jan. 24, 2005)
George Henry White, the first black member of Congress, was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1896 while living in Tarboro. On Saturday, which has been declared George Henry White Day by Tarboro Mayor Donald Morris, White will be honored with ceremonies throughout the day. The highlight, though, will be the 11 a.m. unveiling of a portrait in the Edgecombe County Courthouse.
